We proceed to Florence, Italy with the Ponte Vecchio spanning the Arno River in the distance. Apparently it's Europe's oldest segmental arch bridge. Hitler was so overwhelmed by its beauty, it is said, that he ordered it not be destroyed during the 1944 German retreat. Other nearby bridges were not so lucky.
