Gina in Jackson Square, the French Quarter. It was once known as the Plaza d'Armas (French) or Plaza de Armas (Spanish). Various military personnel would perform drills and parades here and apparently there were also a number of public executions. The square was renamed after Andrew Jackson in the 1850's. Nowadays, it's a spot to unwind, observe street vendors or watch mimes.
